Sunshine FundRobert from Lavender Web Design together with hundreds of other people helped to raise almost £20,000 for the Chronicles Sunshine fund by running 5km in the Sunshine Run, Wednesday 8th July 2009 @ Newcastle Gateshead Quayside.

Robert completed the 5 kilometer run in a time of 28 minutes and was really thrilled to help raise funds for a charity that does so much good work in the North East.

More about the Sunshine Fund

The Evening Chronicle, based in Newcastle upon Tyne, adopted the fund and in 1995 it was granted charitable status when the Chronicle joined forces with the Community Foundation.

The Sunshine Fund are a specialised fund in the North East of England that aims to enhance the lives of local disabled children and their families through the provision of essential equipment, learning aids and custom built apparatus.

The Sunshine Fund was established in 1928 by King George V during his visit to Tyneside. To commemorate the opening of the Tyne Bridge, he made a small donation to give children a day out at the coast.

Since then they have provided over £700,000 for essential equipment, learning aids and custom-built apparatus to improve the quality of children's lives across the region.
